U.S. carrier Verizon Wireless is allegedly poised to add a new device to its current crop of tablet offerings. The new tablet in question is the unannounced ZenPad Z8 from Asus.

According to a new leak — courtesy of well-known leakster Evan Blass, who goes by the Twitter handle @evleaks — Verizon will soon roll out the ZenPad Z8 tablet.

Blass shared an image of the purported tablet, along with a few of its supposed specifications on Twitter. Considering @evleaks is usually on the money when it comes to leaks, his assertions may well bear fruition.

The ZenPad Z8 tablet, which, according to Blass is headed to Verizon, seems to be a budget-friendly offering from Asus. It will be in the company of tablet offerings from LG, Samsung, Apple and Ellipsis. Interestingly, if the leak is accurate, the ZenPad Z8 will be the first Asus tablet to be made available from the carrier.

The leak points to an 8-inch display with a resolution of 1,536 x 2,048 pixels for the Asus tablet. Under the hood, the ZenPad Z8 will allegedly house a hexa-core Snapdragon 650 processor and 2 GB of RAM.

The tablet will offer 16 GB of on-board storage capacity, with the option to expand it further thanks to the presence of a microSD card slot. The LTE-enabled ZenPad Z8 will also boast an 8-megapixel primary camera and a 1.8-megapixel selfie snapper.

It is estimated that the Asus ZenPad Z8 will come pre-loaded with Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The battery size and pricing of the tablet are unknown. However, since the specs hint at a midrange device, the ZenPad Z8 should retail around the $250 to $300 mark.

Asus is yet to spill the beans on the alleged ZenPad Z8 tablet. While there is no word on the tablet's release, it is anticipated that Asus could unveil the ZenPad Z8 alongside its ZenFone 3 lineup of smartphones on May 30.
