With E3 right around the corner, leaks, rumors and teasers about all surprises the show will have in store are coming fast and furious. Add this latest rumor to the ever-growing list: Dead Rising 4 is in the works.

The news comes via ThisGenGaming, which has received images of what appears to be a new entry in Capcom's open-world zombie franchise. Artwork for the game appears to show original Dead Rising star Frank West once again taking center stage. The character was absent in Dead Rising 2 and 3, though an off-shoot of Dead Rising 2 subtitled "Off the Record" did feature the iconic photojournalist infamous for covering wars.

Additional images provided to the site also show what looks to be an in-game screen shot and a glimpse at what could possibly be the game's loading screen. So, is this the real deal? It's hard to say if this is true or not (the game screen shot certainly doesn't look at all great), but it wouldn't be too surprising to see Dead Rising 4 appear at the show this year. Dead Rising 3 released three years ago as an Xbox One exclusive, making the timing for a fourth entry in the series about right. That being said, it's best to take this all with a grain of salt for now.

Rumors circulating around the web seem to indicate the title might be a remake of the original Dead Rising, only this time, the game will allow players all around the zombie-infested city of Willamette, Colo., instead of being restrained to only the town mall. The game is also said to include four-player online co-op. No rumored release date has been tossed around, so it's unclear if Dead Rising 4 would be arriving in 2016 or in 2017.

If this new Dead Rising is real and is a remake of the original, it certainly helps to explain the reappearance of Frank West. Perhaps fans will want to expect a zombie-filled E3 from Capcom, as the company's other famous zombie franchise, Resident Evil, is also rumored to appear at the show with a brand new installment. All will be revealed soon enough, as E3 kicks off in one week.
