Many Android smartphone fans want to make sure that their handset always has the latest version of Android running on it. One way to guarantee future major OS updates is to get one of Google's latest Nexus smartphones.

Google's flagship Nexus smartphones are currently the Huawei Nexus 6P and LG Nexus 5X. Both smartphone's have high-end specs and features, with the Nexus 6P rocking a large 5.7-inch screen and the Nexus 5X using a more manageable 5.2-inch display. The Nexus 6P starts at $499 and the Nexus 5X can be purchased for $349 (16 GB).

The Nexus 5X is manufactured by LG and features the company's 12.3-megapixel rear camera with laser autofocus and a 5.2-inch 1,920 x 1,080 Full HD screen. Selfie fans will appreciate the 5-megapixel front-facing camera, and the smartphone runs the latest version of Android 6.0 Marshmallow and is even capable of running the Android 7.0 "N" developer preview.

It includes 32 GB of internal storage and 2 GB of RAM, in addition to a fingerprint reader located on the rear of the handset and a large 2,700 non-removable mAh battery, which Google claims will provide up to 20 hours of talk time and up to 420 hours of standby time. It also has fast charging support, which will add 4 hours of use from only 10 minutes of charging.

The Nexus 5X's dimensions come in at 147.0 x 72.6 x 7.9 millimeters and it weighs 136 grams. It's unlocked and will work on all major carriers in the U.S., just pop in your SIM card.
