Vizio announced back in January at the Consumer Electronics Show that it is launching a range of Ultra HD TVs that will be priced starting at $1,000. Now, Vizio has launched its new P-Series 4K (Ultra HD) lineup, which features five models at five varying prices.

The P-Series lineup begins with a 50-inch model at $1,000. The rest of the model sizes are 55-inch ($1,400), 60-inch ($1,700), 65-inch ($2,200), and 70-inch ($2,500).

By comparison, most of the UHD TVs from major brands such as Sony, Sharp, Samsung and LG Electronics are retailed from $3,000 to $4,000 for a 65-inch model. Moreover, the 50-inch 4K TVs from LG and Samsung both retail at $1,500. Flagship TV models that are feature-laden also cost even more.

All of the 4K TVs from the P-Series feature LED backlighting in full array and advanced local dimming technology that is backed by the TV's 64 Active LED zones for creating a more vibrant TV picture quality. Viewers also get more accurate colors with the TV's Active Pixel Tuning and Advanced Color Management. Other features include refresh rates of 240Hz and Vizio's VIA Plus smart TV service.

"Our P-Series collection offers an outstanding Ultra HD picture and performance," said Vizio CTO Matt McRae. "The shift towards 4K has left consumers demanding new solutions that deliver the right innovations to enhance their viewing experience."

In addition to the above-mentioned features, all of the TVs from the P-Series have a built-in HEVC (H.265) decoding feature. It is a new and absolutely more efficient video codec already being utilized by other services such as Netflix in streaming TV programs and 4K movies. According to Vizio, its P-Series models currently support Netflix's 4K Ultra HD streaming. Eventually, the P-Series models will support 4K streams from other services such as UltraFlix3 and Amazon Instant Video at the latter part of the year.

While it is true that the P-Series models are priced incredibly low, Vizio reiterates that its TVs are competitive when it comes to performance. All of the models are packed with six-core processors, dual-core CPU, and the latest dual band Wi-Fi of 802.11ac that delivers wireless connection to home networks. Just like the rest of the UHD TVs in the market, the P-Series models have HDMI 2.0 inputs that allow playing 4K content at 60 frames per second.

All models are now available for pre-order at Vizio's official site. Soon, consumers can also make their purchases in stores and other online resellers such as Walmart, Target, Sam's Club, Costco, Best Buy and Amazon.
