Good news for users of Samsung smartphones as the South Korean OEM has pushed out a beta program for the "New Note UX."

According to a report by publication Playfuldroid, Samsung launched the program on Thursday, June 9. The New Note UX beta program is currently available only for a select few Note 5 users in China and Korea who can test out the latest user interface (UI) for Samsung's Android-powered devices.

"Earlier today, Samsung has begun rolling out the Beta program to selected Galaxy Note 5 users in China and Korea to test out their latest Android-based UI dubbed as the 'New Note UX,'" reveals the publication.

The publication also shared a few screenshots of the upcoming UI in action. The images point to a cleaner and more modern user interface compared with earlier versions. The New Note UX UI also seems to have been given a fresh lease of life as it has updated app icons, as well as colors. The modified color scheme looks attractive.

However, those who had hoped for a complete revamp of the current TouchWiz UX may be a tad disappointed as the New Note UX - as revealed by the beta - does not reimagine the underlying philosophy behind the former. Instead, the latter makes minor modifications.

Samsung users who do not own any of the Galaxy Note smartphones from the company will be pleased to learn that the New Note UX UI is apparently not restricted to this line-up of handsets.

Those who own the flagship Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 edge, the Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 edge and the Galaxy S6 edge+ will also benefit from the new UI.

For those wondering when the New Note UX UI will be officially pushed out for all users of the compatible handsets, reports point to an August time window. However, an exact date of release for New Note UX is not known.

The question lingering on Samsung fans' minds would be if the company intends to push out the Galaxy beta program to other countries apart from Korea and China. The answer to that is - possibly yes. However, for now we will have to contend with only Korea and China being the lucky markets that are able to test out the New Note UX.

The beta program is anticipated to continue for another few months before the new UI is officially released to compatible - and hopefully non-Note - devices as well in August.
