BitTorrent could be mulling to unveil its very own TV news network as part of its effort to expand its live streaming service a little further.

This purported TV news network is expected to be launched in time for the election this coming November.

Variety initially shares the news on June 20, citing a job posting that has been recently published by the software company.

"BitTorrent has recently launched a live video streaming platform," reads a part of the said job posting. "Now we need a team to create a tent-pole live news channel to run it."

"The News Director is the first dedicated member of the team," it adds.

The company's News Director should be responsible in hiring a group of journalists and presenters who must be presently based in San Francisco. Also part of the job is to "maintain a worldwide network of stringers."

As the news network is still reportedly starting, the company expects that the upcoming new members should "wear many hats," as BitTorrent puts it. For instance, the News Director should have the know-how in writing, reporting, producing news and shooting and editing videos. Of course, he or she can also anchor.

Dubbed "BitTorrent News," the said network could possibly rival some of the popular news network today, including the MSNBC and CNN. However, Variety reports that the network will not go live 24/7.

BitTorrent News is said to cover breaking news events. In the job listing, the news network will focus its coverage on sporting events, political campaigns, and cultural and tech events.

The company's spokesperson did not provide a comment regarding BitTorrent's plans. Rather, the representative told Variety that the firm has an array of "exciting activities" that are centered on media on all of its platforms. These activities range from live programming and on-demand entertainment.

In the meantime, BitTorrent founder Bram Cohen earlier hinted via Twitter that the company is in search of an expert on political prediction market who will be interviewed for a particular news program.

This news comes hot on the heels of an earlier report, also by Variety, saying that BitTorrent announced its plan in spinning-off Sync, the company's enterprise file sharing tool, into a separate firm called Resilio. This will soon be headed by Eric Klinker, former CEO of BitTorrent.

In May, the firm also took the wraps off BitTorrent Live, a P2P-powered live video offering.

As there is no official word yet from the company, it is advised to take this story with a considerable amount of salt. We will keep you in the loop as soon as we learn more about the rumored BitTorrent News.
