The annual Steam Summer Sale has arrived once again, and this year, it is bringing something new to the table: discounts on VR games.

To date, the Steam Summer Sale has only featured a plethora of traditional games, and listed them in bundles based on their genre or category. In all fairness, this year is no different, with the store advertising discounts for 5,199 games until the sale ends on July 4.

However, this year, the sale this year has something new that was never offered before: VR game discounts. Of course, the emergence of these deals is due to the launch of VR headsets such as the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Granted, the deals don't cover every single major SteamVR game, but it still covers quite a bit of them — 310, to be precise. The ones that it does offer, however, are quite varied, with titles such as music-punching game Audioshield, which is down 25 percent; the VR FPS game Hover Junkers, which is down 30 percent; the virtual shootout game Battle Dome, which is down 10 percent, the single-player exploration game The Solus Project, which is down 20 percent; and the co-op game where you have to diffuse a bomb that your teammate has the manual for but can't see, Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, which is down 34 percent.

All in all, the discounts aren't overly substantial, with most of them offering anywhere between 20 to 33 percent off. However, considering just how much the Oculus Rift and HTC Vive cost, any discount at all is more than appreciated.

Of course, the summer sale is more than just VR discounts, as there are plenty of discounts available for standard non-VR games, too. The sale features titles such as Doom, which is being offered for 40 percent off; Rocket League and Grand Theft Auto V, which are also down 40 percent; Fallout 4, whose price has been cut in half; and Street Fighter V, which is getting a brand new story mode next week, being offered for 33 percent off.

As an added bonus, anyone who wants to stream their recently-purchased title to their television can do so with the Stream Link, which is being offered at a 30 percent discount if purchased individually, or 37 percent if purchased as part of a bundle with a Steam Controller.

All in all, this is a solid summer sale that offers discounts on many games, both VR-enabled and otherwise. Fortunately, now that Steam has also done away with the daily and flash sales it used to do during this event in the past, prospective buyers don't have to worry about rushing to cash in on a deal before it expires.
