Elon Musk whipped up Twitterdom into frenzy on Wednesday when he sent out a cryptic tweet that hinted at what could possibly come from Tesla in the upcoming days.

The tweet talks about unveiling "the D and something else" and includes an image of a garage door slightly open with what appears to be a silver Model S luxury sedan peeking out from under.

Just what "the D" could be Musk didn't say, but all rumors and reports point to the upcoming introduction of an all-wheel-drive version of the $71,000 Model S. What's more unclear, however, is what the "something else" could be, although Musk has dropped hints in the past that Tesla is planning to come out with smaller versions of the Model X SUV crossover and the still-to-come $35,000 Model 3 sedan to open up a range of price choices for a wider market.

Tesla itself confirmed to the Wall Street Journal that it is holding an event in its Hawthorne, California on Oct. 9, although the company did not say what the event was for. Speculations abound that Tesla will finally unveil the Model D, an all-wheel-drive sedan that Musk has in the past described as "dual-motor." The Model S runs on a single electric motor, but an all-wheel-drive, which is preferable in areas with cold climates, will need two electric motors to power the vehicle.

Musk definitely had Tesla fans excited about the prospect of a new Tesla model, but what really worked up Twitter users was his interesting choice of words. "The D" alludes to a part of the male anatomy, which means it shouldn't come as a surprise when Musk's innuendo got so many users excited, or in other cases, completely grossed out.

Tesla stocks rose up by almost 4 percent or $10.53, to $249.40 a share following Musk's announcement, which comes as a respite following several weeks of slipping shares.

Musk, who has a net worth of $11 billion and is considered by many to be the next Henry Ford, has made it a tradition to make announcements related to Tesla or his SpaceX rocket ship company on Twitter.
