The Atom is coming to both the Arrow and The Flash, but for those who are expecting the character to suit up and shrink down on Arrow, think again. Apparently, the show runners are more interested in keeping things more down to Earth on Arrow, so super-powered villains and heroes will not be much of a thing.

It is quite strange the writers and producers of Arrow have chosen to shy away from heroes and villains having super powers on the show. The Flash is in the same universe as Arrow, so we see no reason for the Atom to never use his powers whenever he's featured on the Arrow.

In our eyes, this move is beyond stupid, but that's Warner Bros. and DC, and they tend to do stupid things on a regular basis. For example, take a good look at the New DC 52 comics and the animated movies that have spawned from the same comics.

As it stands right now, the plan is to bring characters with super powers to The Flash, but not to the Arrow, according to Marc Guggenheim, executive producer of Arrow.

"I think anything is possible. My instinct is that if Ray Palmer's going to shrink, he'll probably shrink on another show," Marc Guggenheim said. "With The Flash in existence, there's no real compelling reason for us to do super powers on Arrow. We can bring characters to Flash to have super powers. We have plans for Ray that don't involve shrinking, but our plans for Ray are actually really cool."

From what Guggenheim is saying, it would appear as if all super-powered villains will take a liking to Central City. There emerges a superhero called The Flash in Central City, and all super-powered villains will go to meet him, instead of some taking a trip to Starling City where they can go up against a guy who's without powers instead.

The whole thing doesn't make sense, and it appears as if the storyline is traveling close to the border of Smallville. We doubt Warner and DC want to create another Smallville, so hopefully things will change.

The Atom (Ray Palmer) will be played by Superman Returns leading man Brandon Routh.
