An unannounced Lenovo handset, Lenovo P2c72, has appeared on benchmarking website Geekbench.

The smartphone could be the Vibe P2, which will succeed the company's Vibe P1 launched in October 2015.

According to the Geekbench listing, the next Lenovo mobile phone will run on the Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow operating system. Under the hood will be a 2.02 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor and 4 GB of RAM. Other details of the upcoming Lenovo phone remain unknown.

These specs may not be very impressive for customers looking for a top-end smartphone. However, the specs are a step up from those of its predecessor.

The Vibe P1 sports a 5.5-inch Full HD IPS screen with a display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. The handset comes running on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chip clocked at 1.5 GHz and 2 GB of RAM.

The Vibe P1 has 32 GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to up to 128 GB with a microSD card slot. The storage capacity of the Vibe P2 is not known but customers will hope that it is available with at least 32 GB of on-board storage and an option to expand the storage capacity.

The Vibe P1 has a massive 5,000 mAh battery, which offers up to 44 hours of talk time and up to 25 days of standby time on 3G.

"Fueled by a massive 5,000 mAh battery, the Lenovo Vibe P1 is perfect for your always-on lifestyle. Whether you're big on social media, an avid gamer, a film buff or simply enjoy chatting, this smartphone won't slow you down," says Lenovo.

It is expected that a large battery will also fuel the Vibe P2.

The Vibe P1 is equipped with a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with fast auto focusing and dual-color LED flash. The smartphone also comes with a 5-megapixel selfie camera that allows users to enjoy easy video chat with friends and family.

The Vibe P1 also has a fingerprint scanner for enhanced security and hopefully the next-gen Vibe P2 will get the same feature as well.

The IFA trade show has been a perfect stage for companies to launch their devices. The 2016 IFA kicks off in Berlin on Sept. 2. It remains to be seen if the Chinese smartphone maker will unveil the Vibe P2 at the event and reveal the handset's features.

The Vibe P1 is available from Amazon for $319. Lenovo will be able to attract smartphone customers if the company launches the Vibe P2 at a similar price tag at launch.
