Google is getting in on the action for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games, which will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from Aug. 5 to 21.

How? It has partnered with several broadcasters in more than 60 countries to bring official highlight videos from the Olympic Games not only on YouTube's Watch Cards, but also Google search.

On Aug. 1, Google disclosed that it has partnered with broadcasters such as BBC, NHK and America Movil, to name a few, for the purpose. While this will not be similar to the live experience, it will be handy for viewers in different time zones who are unable to catch the Olympic Games live.

Moreover, when one performs a search on Google for Olympic-related news, they will be greeted with medal tallies, schedules of events and the biography of athletes. Additionally, when one uses the Google mobile search app on either Android or iOS they will get automatic alerts on the medal wins, as well as upcoming events.

"On Google, searching for information about your favorite athletes and sports, the medal race, or your country's schedule has never been easier. Pro tip: if you search on the Google app on Android and iOS, you'll also see an option to get automatic updates on top event and medal wins, so you'll never miss a beat," notes Google in a blog post.

Viewers will not only be able to watch highlights of the Olympic Games but also mobile live streams as Google has teamed up with nearly 15 creators on YouTube such as Chloe Morello, Liza Koshy, Ben Brown and others.

"These creators will take advantage of our brand new mobile live streaming feature to share real-time moments from Brazil as they unfold, as well as 360-degree videos that will make fans feel like they are on the streets of Copacabana," says the company.

Google is also taking things up a higher notch by bringing additional integration for the Olympic Games in its Street View, which will show landmarks in Rio de Janeiro. These highlighted places include tourist haunts as well as the venues for the 2016 Olympic Games.

As the excitement for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games — which has been plagued with controversy — builds up, Google seems poised to cash in on all the impending action. The integration Google is offering may not be a novel concept, but nevertheless it will be welcomed by people who wish to stay updated on the Olympic action and do not want to visit sports sites for a refresher.
