Some smartphone fans are still unsure of making the move to larger 5.5-inch phablets, but now they can attempt the transition without a huge financial commitment. Boost Mobile has just announced the ZTE Warp 7, which features a 5.5-inch display, Android 6.0 Marshmallow and a 13-megapixel rear camera for $99.99.

Samsung just launched its latest flagship phablet, the Galaxy Note 7, which features a 5.7-inch display, top-of-the-line specs and a starting price of about $850. Apple is also about to take the wraps off of its next-gen phablet when it announces the 5.5-inch iPhone 7 Plus alongside the 4.7-inch iPhone 7 at a press event on Sept. 7. While pricing for the iPhone 7 Plus is unknown at this time, it's safe to assume that it will be right up there with the Galaxy Note 7.

For smartphone fans that want to move up to a phablet in order to get all of the advantages that come with a larger display but don't want to pay the high cost of Samsung's and Apple's latest and greatest phablets, prepaid carriers are increasingly offering the consumers more affordable alternatives. Boost Mobile and ZTE have just announced such a device in the form of the ZTE Warp 7, a 5.5-inch phablet with HD display, running Android 6.0 Marshmallow, 64-bit quad-core processor, 13-megapixel rear camera, Quick Charge technology and more for $99.99.

"Consumers continue to anticipate the Warp family of products each year and we are proud to introduce the next device in the series with the ZTE Warp 7," said Lixin Cheng, chairman and CEO of ZTE USA. "We continue to push the boundaries of what an affordable premium device is and the Warp 7 available with Boost Mobile incorporates top features at a budget friendly price."

The Boost Mobile ZTE Warp 7 features a 5.5-inch 720 x 1,280 HD Gorilla Glass 3 display and is powered by a 64-bit 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 2 GB of RAM. The handset includes 16 GB of internal storage and microSD expansion slot that allows users to increase available storage for images, music, movies and apps.

The ZTE Warp 7's camera capabilities consist of a 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video chat. It ships with a large 3,000 mAh battery, which will provide up to 26 hours of talk time, and Quick Charge support to allow faster charging times.

Boost Mobile is now offering the ZTE Warp 7 through its online and retail stores for $99.99 contract-free.
