Samsung is reportedly planning to release Galaxy S5 sooner than expected.

South Korean news website ET News reported that Samsung will be initiating the production of Galaxy S5 from January 2014 and the launch is scheduled for April. It means Galaxy S4's successor will be made available within just 10 months of the launch of the Galaxy S4, which is quite an aggressive strategy.

Rumors also have it that Galaxy S5, like the latest iPhones, will be available in two models, viz. standard and premium. The premium model will sport a flexible or curved OLED display with metal casing, while the standard version will be in a plastic casing sporting the usual standard screen.

Last week, reports surfaced about the leaked photos of metal casing for Galaxy S5. An unofficial concept video also surfaced on YouTube, touting impressive features for the Galaxy S5, including a curved 5-inch 2K super AMOLED HD screen, with an astonishing 260x1440 pixels resolution (pixel density of 587ppi).

Per the video, the smartphone will sport a flexible aluminum body and 16-megapixel primary camera, and will be powered by 64-bit Octo-core processor (supported by 3GB RAM). The smartphone is touted to come with Android 4.4 KitKat (with Touchwiz UI skin) out of the box, and will pack a huge 4,000mAh battery to keep it running smoothly.
