As Samsung readies to unveil its latest high-end phablet later this week, the Galaxy Note 4, here's a roundup of which retailers and major carriers are offering special terms and discounts on the smartphone.

As Samsung releases the Note 4, its latest entry in the ongoing phablet wars, it is looking to give Apple some competition. With the Note 4's top-of-the-line specs, which include a 5.7-inch Quad HD display, powerful quad-core Snapdragon processor, and 16-megapixel camera, Samsung is looking to give the iPhone 6 Plus a run for its money and also to head off an additional challenge to its current phablet supremacy from Google and its just-announced Nexus 6.

As the release date approaches, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint, along with Best Buy, are all offering preorders. Here are the special deals and discounts that each carrier or retailer is offering to entice you to order the Galaxy Note 4 from them.

Samsung is offering a "Guaranteed Total Trade-In of $200 on Any Working Smartphone," effectively reducing the price to $99.99 when you preorder the Galaxy Note 4 through any carrier by Oct. 16, although Verizon customers have until Oct. 22 to score this deal.

Best Buy is offering a similar $200 gift card when you preorder: "Experience the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 in all Best Buy and select Best Buy Mobile locations and get a $200 Best Buy gift card at time of purchase when you trade in any working smartphone."

If you order through the carriers directly, some are offering special terms or discounts. Sprint offers its own trade-in buyback program of up to $200 off the Galaxy Note 4, which has a price tag of $299.99, also effectively reducing the cost to $99.99. You can also opt to pay $29.99 a month for a total of 24 months, which adds up to about $720, through Sprints "no contract" easy-pay program.

T-Mobile offers a similar pay-as-you-go option for $31.24 a month for 24 months with zero money down. It also requires you to purchase a "SIM starter kit" with the device, which automatically tacks an extra $10 onto the cost.

Finally, Verizon offers the Galaxy Note 4 at the standard $299.99 price with 2-year contract, but its shipping date is listed as Oct. 23, almost a full week later than the other carriers promise, which gives you more time to utilize the Samsung deal with Verizon.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 deals.
