The Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid on Verizon are already getting the Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Just to clear things up, the Droid versions of the Moto Z lineup is an exclusive of the Big Red.

Finally, The Droid Gets The Latest Android

The big news comes from Reddit user Wasney who reports that their Verizon model of the Moto Z has received the latest Android version.

Identified with the software version NCL26.86-11, the description of the Android 7.0 Nougat update mentions that it's for the Moto Z Droid and Moto Z Force Droid.

There's no word about the exact file size, but at any rate, the installation is estimated to take 20 minutes to complete.

Highlighting a few of the features, it brings the Split-Screen feature that lets users have two apps open on the screen simultaneously and Quick Switch or, as the update's description reads, "App quick switching" that allows users to switch from one app to the most recently used one via double tapping on the Recent key.

Google Daydream Compatibility Confirmed

Another Reddit user who goes by the name of TonyTheDuke says that they have also received the Android 7.0 Nougat update on their Moto Z Force Droid.

Of course, that's in line with Wasney's info, but the more interesting part this time around is that they're confirming Google Daydream compatibility, even though it's not exactly listed as a Daydream-ready phone on Google's website.

That said, it's also worth pointing out that a Canadian variant of the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge has been spotted running Daydream, which is also rocking Android 7.0 Nougat and is not technically a Daydream phone.

Availability

According to TonyTheDuke, those who own a Moto Z Droid or Moto Z Force Droid should get the Android 7.0 Nougat update soon enough.

"I do work for Verizon, but with the updates, they do rollouts. You should have it in a few days," they say in reply to another user asking whether or not they're just a regular customer.

Verizon will probably make an official announcement in a few days.

On that note, it's more or less safe to expect that other Moto Z handsets in the United States will receive the update too before the year ends, including unlocked variants. Moto G4 units and numerous others are also scheduled to receive it.

Before wrapping things up, it should be noted that we have a comprehensive list that details what Android 7.0 Nougat has in store, from the aforementioned features to improved UI and Doze on the Go power-saving tool.

With everything said and done, are you as excited as we are to finally get the latest Android version running on our phones? If so, feel free to hit us up in the comments section below, especially if you're a Moto Z Droid or Moto Z Force Droid owner who has yet to receive the update.
