A Halo 5: Guardians player has managed to recreate a working in-game calculator in Halo 5: Guardians' Forge mode.

Halo 5: Guardians' Forge Mode, which was recently beefed up via the Monitor's Bounty update, allows players access to Halo's robust toolkit for editing levels, and has been used in a variety of clever ways since its release, with players crafting unique in-game additions such as custom minigames, modified objects, and more.

A Halo 5: Guardians Calculator

Reddit user CantUseApostrophes is the one responsible for this crafty spawn. Function-wise, the calculator is a bit limited, only being able to work with single digits, but the fact that it was created using the in-game toolkit and that it works is a clear example of what's possible in Halo 5: Guardians' Forge Mode.

Like clockwork, the post has piqued the attention of the Halo community, and even Xbox UK was quick to chime in, posting the news on its official Twitter account.

How The Calculator Works

Through the post, the redditor offered a rough explanation of the calculator. Basically, numbers zero through nine are all on top of each other. When the screen displays each number, it spawns numbers zero to nine simultaneously, then despawns all numbers save for the one it's supposed to display.

Users can type in "calculator" on Halo 5: Guardian's in-game browser if they want to download it.

Monitor's Bounty

Halo developer 343 Industries released the Monitor's Bounty update on Dec. 8, adding more objects and better tools for scripting in Halo 5: Guardians' Forge mode. The DLC made it even easier for crafty players to create minigames using the in-game toolkit.

In fact, the extent of manipulation is so vast that some Halo players have already started experimenting to cull elements from past Halo installments and migrate them over into Halo 5: Guardians, with Halo Reach's Invasion being a prime example.

Halo 5: Guardians was released in October last year for Xbox One, while the game's Forge mode was the only one released for PC. The game is a first-person shooter with a plot that follows two fireteams of human super soldiers when the Master Chief-led blue team goes AWOL to crack down Cortana, an artificial intelligence construct. Upon release, the game became the fastest-selling series entry, having garnered $400 million in global games and hardware sales in just 24 hours.
