Some issues are affecting the iPhone 7 Plus camera, as users are complaining about a number of problems marring the experience.

The iPhone 7 Plus is Apple's first smartphone to rock a powerful dual camera and it even has a special Portrait Mode to capture better photographs. However, users report various iPhone 7 Plus camera issues such as back screens, green or purple tints or emergency notices that the iPhone needs to cool down even if it's barely warm.

iPhone 7 Plus Camera Issues

Users took to Reddit to report on the iPhone 7 Plus camera issues they were experiencing and the thread is getting longer by the minute.

"I opened up the camera app only to be met with a black image preview, sometimes I can get an image however it's either tinted green or purple and was once accompanied by a screen stating 'Emergency iPhone needs to cool down' when the handset wasnt even slightly warm," one user reports.

The user further notes that neither a hard reset nor a factory restore made any difference. As it turns out, other users who have experienced the same issues and contacted Apple had their smartphones replaced altogether, reportedly due to a "hardware fault."

Another user, meanwhile, points out that the issues seem to be more prevalent when the camera app is in video mode so they tried swiping left to go into normal photo mode, then force closing the camera app from the App Switcher. Locking the phone and then reopening the camera app from the lock screen seemed to do the trick, getting the camera app working again.

Repair Or Replacement?

Some users note that they had their phone replaced altogether over this camera issue, while others said they simply had it repaired to replace the defective camera. For those worried about having the iPhone's water resistance compromised once it's opened up, Apple repair staff reportedly replaces the waterproof housing each time they open up a device.

Based on other user comments on the thread, iPhone 7 Plus camera issues are not exactly novelty to Apple repair staff and getting the smartphone repaired or replaced posed no issues.

Speculations suggest that the issues might stem from a defective flex cable inside the smartphone, which might trigger faulty thermal register lines, in turn resulting in the emergency cool down notices some users got.

It seems that iOS 10.2 does not solve the issues, further indicating that it's a hardware problem rather than a software one.

Either way, if you're experiencing iPhone 7 Plus camera issues, head over to the nearest Apple Store and tell us about your experience in the comments section below.
