T-Mobile and MetroPCS both announced the availability of the new handset from LG, namely the LG Aristo, in their catalogs.

The pocket-friendly smartphone would be hitting the shelves later this month. The affordable smartphone would be available on T-Mobile from Jan. 25 and would be released on MetroPCS on Jan. 23.

LG Aristo Specs

The handset would be running on Android 7 Nougat. It sports a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. The smartphone houses a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 processor clocked at 1.4 GHz. In addition to this, it features an Adreno 308 graphics chip.

The LG Aristo would be equipped with a 5-megapixel front camera and a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash. Moreover, the handset has Gesture Interval Shot, which lets users raise a hand and make a fist to click four selfies in a row.

The selfie light would illuminate a soft light around the handset's photo preview, and an auto shot facilitates selfies using face detection.

The handset boasts an internal storage of 16 GB. It will also offer 1.5 GB of RAM. The LG smartphone is fueled by a 2,410 mAh battery.

A fingerprint reader is a great security feature on any handset, and the LG Aristo also packs the same.

The smartphone also features Bluetooth 4.2, 4G capable radio, a headphone jack and a speakerphone. It is Wi-Fi calling enabled and supports VoLTE.

LG Aristo Price

The LG Aristo would cost $144 on T-Mobile, or $6 per month for two years based on the payment plans by the company. It would cost $59 after rebate on the MetroPCS listing and could be regarded as one of the cheapest in its catalog.

Incidentally, MetroPCS shows an increase in percentage of subscribers over parent company, T-Mobile, in the past few years.

"We're killing it in prepaid," said T-Mobile CEO John Legere during a recent earnings call. "The majority of our growth is on MetroPCS, as opposed to other brands."

As a limited time offer, T-Mobile is offering 25 percent off a Tech21 protective case and a screen protector for the Aristo when the two are purchased together. It is believed that the LG K8 2017 has been rebranded to LG Aristo.

The LG Aristo will be a welcome addition to the MetroPCS and T-Mobile catalogs as the budget smartphone would have many takers. It remains to be seen if consumers take a shine to the handset.
