Gamers will welcome the news that the Xbox One console will get backwards compatibility for two more games — Rocket Knight and Shadows of the Damned — in January.

Since January is nearly ending, gamers don't have to wait much longer and should soon be able to find the two games by default in the Xbox One games library.

However, there is a caveat: users will only be able to see the two games listed in their library if they purchased these titles earlier for the Xbox 360.

The backwards compatibility for the two games was announced by Microsoft on Jan. 26. Larry Hryb of Xbox made the new announcement via a post on Twitter.

"Shadows of the Damned and Rocket Knight are coming to Xbox One Backward Compatibility today," announced Hryb.

Recent Updates

Microsoft added 15 more names to the backward compatibility list for Xbox One in January.

Some of the recent inclusions were Alice: Madness Returns, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 and Battlefield 3. Nearly 300 Xbox 360 games are now compatible with the Xbox One thanks to the backwards compatibility. The list of all the backwards compatible games for the Xbox One can be checked out online.

Earlier in January, Microsoft announced that in 2016, gamers had collectively clocked a whopping 265 million hours when engaged in Xbox 360 titles that were compatible with the Xbox One.

According to reports, Hryb has hinted that Microsoft has a busy week ahead and fans could look forward to yet another announcement pertaining to the backwards compatibility of Xbox One later this week. While the exact date is not known, it is believed that the company may make the announcement possibly on Thursday. Usually, Microsoft makes backwards compatibility-related announcements on Thursdays or Tuesdays.

Games With Gold February 2017

Microsoft has also confirmed the Games with Gold lineup for February 2017. Fans can look forward to some new and exciting games. Two games are set to be made available for the Xbox 360 and two for the Xbox One.

Gamers will be able to engage in Monkey Island 2: Special Edition, with Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to follow suit. Moreover, the Killer Instinct Season 2 Ultra Edition will also be available till Feb. 15.
