Through a post on the official PlayStation blog, Sony announced that a pair of PlayStation VR bundles will be released this month of February.

According to Sony, the bundles will allow players to dive into the virtual reality platform in preparation of what is said to be a strong lineup of games coming to PlayStation VR this year.

PlayStation VR Launch Bundle Returns

The first PlayStation VR bundle that Sony will be releasing this month is the same one that was offered to players during preorders for the virtual reality system.

The returning bundle, which will be in retail stores next week for the price tag of $499, will include the PlayStation VR headset, the PlayStation Camera, a pair of PlayStation Move motion controllers, the PlayStation VR demo disc, and a copy of PlayStation VR Worlds.

The PlayStation VR demo disc is a physical CD that comes with samples of eight PlayStation VR titles. In addition to the included PlayStation VR Worlds, which features mini-games that show off the capabilities of the system, the demo disc ensures that players will be able to jump right into virtual reality as soon as they receive the PlayStation VR bundle.

Among the titles sampled in the demo disc are Driveclub VR, part of the PlayStation 4's flagship racing franchise; EVE: Valkyrie, one of the biggest launch titles for the Oculus Rift with intense battles in space; and RIGS Mechanized Combat League, which allows players to fight using massive machines in arena matches.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood PlayStation VR Bundle

In addition to the return of the launch bundle for the PlayStation VR bundle, Sony announced that a similar bundle featuring exclusive PlayStation VR game Until Dawn: Rush of Blood will also be released within the month, with no specific date mentioned.

The Until Dawn: Rush of Blood PlayStation VR bundle, which will only be made available through GameStop and EB Games, will feature the same price of $499. It will also have the same contents as the PlayStation VR launch bundle, but instead of PlayStation VR Worlds, gamers will receive a copy of Until Dawn: Rush of Blood.

Until Dawn: Rush of Blood is an on-rail first-person shooter horror game that makes good use of the virtual reality platform, but for gamers who are interested in acquiring both PlayStation VR Worlds and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, the other bundle would be a better buy, as PlayStation VR Worlds sells for $40 while Until Dawn: Rush of Blood only has a $20 price tag.

PlayStation VR Outlook For 2017

The Sony announcement highlighted a few PlayStation VR games coming this year as good reasons for picking up the virtual reality system right now, with the mentioned titles namely Farpoint, Gran Turismo Sport, Golem, Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Psychonauts in the Rhombus of Ruin.

However, gamers might not have to wait for a good reason to buy the PlayStation VR, with Resident Evil 7 perhaps becoming the first flagship-level title for the system. Around 10 percent of players of the first-person horror game, which features PlayStation VR support, has dived into the game's virtual reality version.
