Hello Games, the developer behind No Man's Sky, revealed that it will release the Path Finder Update for the controversial space game later this week.

According to the developer, the Path Finder Update will build on the Foundation Update that was released in November last year.

Path Finder Update To Add Planet Exploration Vehicle

In the announcement that Hello Games posted in the official Steam forums, the developer said that the Path Finder Update will introduce a new vehicle that will help players explore their home planet.

There has been some speculation that a vehicle was coming to No Man's Sky since last year when the Foundation Update was launched. A redditor discovered files that contained 3D models, textures, and icons for a ground vehicle, along with a folder that is simply named "buggy."

Not much else is known regarding the vehicle, or the Path Finder Update in general. The planetary exploration vehicle could be some sort of dune buggy, based on the previously discovered files and its purpose as revealed by Hello Games.

The developer noted that the detailed patch notes for the Path Finder Update will be released once it goes live within the week. Players will find out what the new vehicle of No Man's Sky will look like and how it will work once the update is launched.

Hello Games Starts Listening To Feedback

In the same post that announced the Path Finder Update, Hello Games noted that it released several patches to fix problems reported by players after it launched the Foundation Update. According to the developer, it was "surprised and excited" by the user response to the update, and that since then, it started listening carefully to feedback from the community as it worked on the Path Finder Update.

"To those of you who have spent time sharing feedback, whether positive or negative, we are listening," Hello Games said in the post.

'No Man's Sky' Controversy

When No Man's Sky was launched, the game generated a lot of controversy because of the alleged false advertising that the developer used to promote the game. In fact, the Advertising Standards Authority of the United Kingdom launched an investigation into No Man's Sky after receiving numerous complaints about the game.

Hello Games is now working to make sure that the current features of No Man's Sky are working as intended while trying to win back the initial user base of the space exploration title. While adding a vehicle to increase the speed of planetary exploration will likely not be enough to win back disgruntled players, it shows that Hello Games is committed to the No Man's Sky community.

In the Foundation Update, base building was added along with two new game modes. The Creative mode removed all threat from No Man's Sky, allowing players to focus on the building and exploration aspects of the game, while the Survival mode did the opposite as it increased the game's difficulty and added more threats.

With the Foundation Update and the upcoming Path Finder Update, Hello Games is looking to put the controversy of the launch of No Man's Sky behind it and move forward with making improvements to the space exploration game.
