Volcanoes or volcanic eruption has always been a matter of serious concern for both people living around the prone areas, as well as for the rest of the world.

Going near one or trying to explore how an active volcanic eruption looks like is a prospect filled with risks.

However, Google has shared an update for the Google Street View, which may now allow one to have a closer look at an active volcano without leaving the comforts of their home.

Google and two explorers have succeeded in capturing images of one such volcano, on an island located thousands of miles off the Australian coast.

The Location

The island is situated in one of the remote countries of Vanuatu, which is actually an archipelago of 80 tiny islands. The area is covered with rich green jungles, clear sand beaches, and nine active volcanoes.

The news was shared by Google on its official blog on March 15, where it is inviting people to journey and see the largest lava lake in the world, at the island of Ambrym in Vanuatu.

To get the exclusive view of the erupting volcano, Google has joined hands with Geoff Mackley and Chris Horsley. The two explorers drove deep inside the 400-meter Marum Crater, accompanied with a Street View Trekker.

The Street View Trekker captured the 360-degree images of the journey, deep down inside the molten lake, which is similar in size to two football fields.

However, the Street View allows the users to check the volcano only from the sides without going too close to the heat.

"I hope that by putting this place on the map people will realize what a beautiful world we live in," said Chris Horsley.

Ambrym

Being home to more than 7,000 people who reside in the rain forest down the mountains, Ambrym is the result of the 39-square-mile volcanic depression or caldera.

Ambrym is the home to two other active volcanic cones namely Benbow and Marum. The people residing there have managed to stay despite the active and sporadic volcanic activity, which harms both the agriculture and the environment.

According to the Chief Moses of the village of Endu, both the volcanoes Marun and Benbow are like devils and can erupt anytime. The villagers have denoted the two volcanoes as husband and wife, with Benbow being the man and Marun his wife.

The addition of this interesting location, with all its volcanic activity, may turn out to be quite popular among fans of the Google Street View.
