T-Mobile has made a tempting offer for Verizon subscribers with iPhones or Pixel smartphones to switch to the Un-Carrier, with T-Mobile CEO John Legere himself making the pitch.

The latest promotion could prove to be very difficult to beat, and may likely see a significant number of subscribers leave Verizon for T-Mobile.

T-Mobile Tempts Verizon Subscribers To Switch

In a video uploaded to the official YouTube channel of T-Mobile, Legere announced the carrier's plan to help Verizon customers "#GetOutofTheRed" and into the Un-Carrier.

Starting May 31, Verizon customers who own one of the newer iPhones or Pixel smartphones can switch to T-Mobile without having to worry about the remaining payments on the devices. This is because T-Mobile will pay off the remaining amount in full, no matter how much that is, with the carrier also offering to answer any early termination fees.

"With no more phone payments to make, that could mean thousands of dollars right back in your pocket," T-Mobile said in a press release, highlighting how amazing the offer is for Verizon subscribers.

The offer is much better compared to the free device promotions of T-Mobile, as it does not rely on bill credits. T-Mobile usually gives devices for free by requiring customers to pay the full amount upfront and then gradually refunding the payment through bill credits. For this particular promotion, T-Mobile will give the entire rebate in the form of a prepaid MasterCard within 15 days from making the switch.

The supported iPhone models are the iPhone SE, iPhone 6s, iPhone 6s Plus, iPhone 7, and iPhone 7 Plus, and the offer also covers Google's Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. Families of up to five members are eligible for the offer. Those who are already thinking of signing up for a new Verizon account with a new iPhone or Pixel and then immediately switching to T-Mobile to essentially get a free device will not succeed though, as T-Mobile requires switching subscribers to have a Verizon account of at least 60 days.

There is a slight catch though. Verizon subscribers who take up T-Mobile's offer will be required to insure their device under the carrier's insurance program, which costs $15 per month. The deal is not a terrible one, but it will bring the price of the new T-Mobile plan by a significant amount.

Meanwhile, customers on AT&T and Sprint who are looking to switch to T-Mobile will also have their phone payments and early termination fees answered by the Un-Carrier, but they will have to purchase a new device.

T-Mobile, Verizon Competition Heats Up

T-Mobile and Verizon are no strangers to competition, as the two carriers regularly trade barbs during promotions. However, T-Mobile could finally have released an offer that Verizon will find hard to match up against.

In February, an OpenSignal report found that T-Mobile has the fastest 4G speed in the northeastern United States, while Verizon makes the claim in the west. However, after T-Mobile bid almost $8 billion in an airwaves auction held by the Federal Communications Commission, the Un-Carrier placed itself in position to eventually topple Verizon and AT&T in terms of coverage.

Another incentive for Verizon subscribers to switch to T-Mobile is the comparison between the unlimited data plans of the two carriers. T-Mobile One is seen as a much better offer compared to Verizon Unlimited.
