Everything about the OnePlus 5T has been leaked ahead of its Nov. 16 unveiling event in New York, thanks to an early upload by ZDNet Germany.
Included in the leak are OnePlus 5T pictures, the smartphone's specifications, and its release date. Fans of OnePlus and its devices now have a clear picture of what's coming in the company's New York event.
OnePlus 5T Pictures
ZDNet Germany released its unboxing gallery for the OnePlus 5T a few days too early, revealing the first good looks at the highly anticipated smartphone. The article has since been taken down, with the website explaining that it did not receive any information on an embargo date when OnePlus sent a review sample of the OnePlus 5T.
The photos showed that the OnePlus 5T really comes with the previously rumored bezel-less design for the device, and that the fingerprint sensor has been moved to the back of the smartphone. The 5.5-inch screen of the OnePlus 5 left sufficient space for the fingerprint reader at the bottom bezel, but that space has now been taken up by the 6-inch AMOLED panel of the OnePlus 5T.
The OnePlus 5T is also confirmed to have a headphone jack, which is a port is being pulled out from current flagship smartphones.
The leaked pictures also showed the OnePlus 5T being compared side-by-side to the Samsung Galaxy S8 and the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, as well as the cases that will be sold for the smartphone.
OnePlus 5T Specs
According to the ZDNet Germany leak, the aforementioned 6-inch AMOLED display of the OnePlus 5T carries a 1080 x 2160 resolution at 401 pixels per inch with an 18:9 aspect ratio. OnePlus will apparently call the OnePlus 5T screen as the Sunlight Display, as it comes with a built-in software algorithm that tweaks the screen under harsh light to make it easier for users to see what's on it.
The OnePlus 5T is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor and Adreno 540 GPU with either 6 GB or 8 GB of RAM. Internal storage options are 64 GB and 128 GB, the battery capacity is 3,300 mAh, and it also has a USB Type-C port.
The front-facing camera of the OnePlus 5T is a 16 MP one, while the dual rear-facing camera is a 16 MP and 20 MP one.
A major setback for the OnePlus 5T, however, is that its pre-installed OxygenOS will be based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, and not Android 8.0 Oreo.
OnePlus 5T Release Date
The OnePlus 5T will be unveiled on Nov. 16 in New York, but its release date will not also be on that day. Sales in North America and Europe will launch a few days later on Nov. 21.
Unfortunately, the only thing that we do not yet know about the OnePlus 5T is its price, though rumors say that it will remain the same as the OnePlus 5. This piece of information is the only major detail of the smartphone that fans will be waiting to find out in the upcoming New York event.
