The latest rumor claims that Apple will release the long-awaited iPhone SE 2 in a few months. Also, the updated budget iPhone will offer one of the new features found in the iPhone X.

It should be noted that the iPhone SE 2 is different from the reported iPhone X SE. While the iPhone SE 2 is the follow-up to the original iPhone SE that was launched in March 2016, the iPhone X SE is the rumored third new iPhone model that Apple is said to be planning to unveil this year.

iPhone SE 2 To Launch In May Or June

In November last year, a report claimed that the iPhone SE 2 release date is sometime within the first half of 2018. The iPhone SE 2 price was said to be about $450, which is about the same as the launch price of the original iPhone SE.

A new report by DigiTimes has echoed the rumored iPhone SE 2 launch window while providing a more specific timeframe for either May or June. The report added that the budget iPhone will start mass production in the second quarter, which likely does not mean the second quarter of the calendar year.

This would not give Apple enough time for a May or June launch. The second quarter mentioned in the report likely refers to the second quarter of Apple's fiscal year, which runs from January to March. As such, the iPhone SE 2 mass production might have already started.

iPhone SE 2 Wireless Charging Feature

Another report on the iPhone SE 2 from earlier this month claimed that the smartphone will have an all-glass back similar to the iPhone 8 and iPhone X The glass back is not for the purpose of looking pretty though, as such a design enables wireless charging.

DigiTimes also mentioned that the iPhones Apple will roll out this year will all have wireless charging and 3D sensing functions. This may have confirmed that the iPhone SE 2 will support wireless charging. It is unclear what 3D sensing refers to, but it is likely the TrueDepth camera of iPhone X that enables features such as Face ID and Animojis.

iPhone SE 2 Vs iPhone X SE

The iPhone SE 2 will likely be powered by the A10 chip, which is the same one inside the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

Meanwhile, customers who want a more powerful experience while maintaining somewhat of a budget might want to look forward to the rumored iPhone X SE. It is said that the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch LCD screen, Face ID, and the notch, but no 3D Touch, for a price of between $649 and $749.
