Just like sports simulations that receive an annual refresh, gamers already expect a yearly installment from Activision's popular shooter and see a new Call of Duty game.

Last year, the developer took the franchise back to its roots, which was set during the events of World War II. Now, the incoming 2018 title is reportedly titled Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, according to rumors. Additionally, it looks like Nintendo will also get a port for the Switch.

Nintendo Gets Some Love

The news should please gamers who took a chance with the Switch as its sales success possibly prompted the publisher to include it on the list. According to sources, the portable version will be handled by developers who have experience with past installments of the popular shooter.

Moreover, the upcoming game will reportedly be a full-featured version with DLC support, HD Rumble, and motion controls.

Reliable Source Of Information

Sources credit Marcus Sellars, a known industry insider, with the latest leaks concerning Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. For the record, he apparently has a good track record when it comes to unreleased information about the gaming world.

He posted the details about the new title on TwitterCOD 2018 is Black Ops 4 and is coming to PS4, Xbox, PC, and Switch. It is set in the modern times and is boots on the ground.

The Switch version will support DLC, HD Rumble, and motion controls. It is also being ported by a company that is familiar with COD games.

Previously, Sellars predicted that the Switch will get a remastered Dark Souls game. It was followed by another prediction that Japanese gaming company will introduce the Labo accessories as well as the Nintendo Direct date for January. Obviously, he got his data from reliable people in the industry.

Meanwhile, details regarding the new entry to the first-person shooter franchise claim it will be set in modern times, which seems to be supported by a job listing posted by the publisher and developer last year. Based on the requirements posted for the position, the team wanted someone with a deep knowledge base of firearms and modern military technology.

Development Status

Industry experts believe that Activision has tapped the services of Treyarch Studios to develop Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Most gamers reportedly loved that the series went back to its "boots on the ground" gameplay and apparently, they are glad that the next installment will continue to do so.

Most people believe that the FPS title will have a trailer available by E3 2018, which will confirm the leaked details regarding its setting and gameplay. Most of all, Switch owners are reportedly excited to see how the game runs on the hybrid game system.

The publisher and developer have yet to release an official statement about the development status of the shooter as well as its final title. However, it has been established that it will be coming to the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and the Switch.
