We've seen leaks and teasers this past week and now it's official: Rage 2 is in the works, Bethesda confirms, and a gameplay teaser will soon become available.

Instead of denying the recent leaks, Bethesda decided to officially announce that Rage is getting a sequel, and it also posted a teaser video reminiscent of Mad Max.

Bethesda Confirms 'Rage 2'

While Bethesda already published a teaser for the upcoming Rage 2, it doesn't reveal much at this point. The trailer gives no indication of gameplay, but that issue will be solved very soon. Bethesda promised to release a full gameplay teaser on Tuesday, May 15, at 7 a.m. PT, or 3 p.m. ET.

What is clear at this point is that the game is currently in the works, and the first trailer released on May 14 shows loads of live action, with characters fighting, prancing around, wielding weapons, and indicating a great deal of excitement.

It doesn't really give away much in terms of what to expect from the video game, but the tone doesn't seem as heavy as the doom of a post-apocalyptic universe might warrant.

No additional information is available for now, but Rage 2 is expected to be available on a number of platforms when it launches, including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Why A 'Rage' Sequel?

The original Rage video game hit the scene back in 2011, developed by id Software, but it didn't enjoy a great reception. The reviews were rather mediocre and the game failed to spark much hype, yet here it is getting a sequel. There's no word on whether id Software will be developing Rage 2 as well, or someone else.

Despite not getting rave reviews, it seems that Rage sales may have been decent enough to leave room for a sequel. Rage 2 may not necessarily continue on the same note as the original game, but it's nonetheless a brand and Bethesda might be able to milk it some more.

'Rage 2' Release

Bethesda made no mention of release yet, but a recent leak revealed that the game could debut at E3 2018, alongside other titles. The E3 2018 event will take place between June 12 and June 14, and Bethesda has already scheduled a conference on June 10 at 6:30 p.m. PST, before the event officially kicks into gear.

The company could officially introduce Rage 2 at that conference, but it remains to be seen what else it might have up its sleeve. In the meantime, you can watch the Rage 2 teaser below.
