The new Nokia X6 Android smartphone has officially launched in China, sporting a display notch, dual cameras, a 19:9 aspect ratio, and other neat specs at an affordable price.

Meet The New Nokia X6

The smartphone had been previously leaked as the Nokia X, sparking plenty of interest, and now, it made its official debut in Beijing under HMD Global's umbrella.

The Nokia X6 launches as the first Nokia-branded smartphone to feature a display notch, which not everyone might appreciate. Apple was the first to introduce a display notch with its iPhone X and the feature proved to be highly controversial, but it nonetheless seems to be catching on.

Nokia X6 Specs

The smartphone has a 5.8-inch full HD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, thin bezels, and a good screen-to-body ratio. It has a glass design that lends a sleek aspect, but also makes the device more prone to damage if dropped. The glass back is also a fingerprint magnet generally, but a protective case should solve the problem.

Under the hood, the Nokia X6 packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, 4 GB or 6 GB of RAM, and 32 GB or 64 GB of internal storage space. Other specs include a dual rear camera setup consisting of a 16-megapixel lens and a 5-megapixel monochrome sensor, and a 16-megapixel front camera for selfies and video calls. All cameras have f/2.0 apertures.

Nokia also equipped the handset with various software features to enhance the photography experience, including automatic image enhancements using artificial intelligence, such as facial recognition. Other camera features include a "Bothie" mode that allows users to use the rear and front cameras at the same time, as well as an HDR photo mode for more vibrant and vivid images.

The Nokia X6 further features a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a USB Type-C port, a 3,060 mAh battery, and Android 8.1 Oreo on board out of the box.

Nokia X6 Pricing And Options

The new Nokia X6 went up for pre-order in China, available in three configurations and three color options: Black, Silver, and Dark Blue. The base configuration with 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of native storage space costs CNY 1,299, or about $200.

A model with the same amount of RAM but double the storage costs CNY 1,499, or approximately $235. Lastly, a beefed up version with 6 GB of RAM and 64 GB of native storage space goes up to CNY 1,699, or roughly $265.

Nokia has yet to announce a specific release date or clarify when or if the Nokia X6 will reach other markets as well.
