The LG G3, the alleged successor to LG's current flagship smartphone, the G2, is destined for greatness if rumors are to be believed. The company is reportedly planning to introduce fingerprint sensor in the G3, a move that will make it join the elite company of Apple, HTC and Pantech.

While the rumor has not yet been confirmed by official sources, we won't be surprised if LG does bring the fingerprint sensor to G3 because the company is always at the forefront when it comes to bringing innovation to its products, such as flexible smartphones and self-healing coatings. So, given the company's penchant for new technologies, a fingerprint sensor on an LG device is a distinct possibility.

Nonetheless, LG would be better off by not bringing the sensor to G3. The reason is because not many people have warmed up to the idea of using finger to unlock one's phone and those who have tried it, have complained about the fragility and high sensitivity of the sensors on the iPhone 5s as well as the HTC One Max.

LG is expected to unveil the G3 at the MWC event in Barcelona in February 2014. In addition to the G3, LG will also likely release a smartwatch similar to Samsung's Galaxy Gear. Technology pundits are also expecting LG to release two fitness products aptly named the G Health and the G Arch.
