The Yahoo! Sports app has been doing quite well recently with its strong and faithful user base. However, fans of the app are in for a bigger treat with a recent iOS 7 update. Aside from the slick new interface and design, the app now sports a nifty new feature called Loops with a neat bag of tricks.

In terms of aesthetics, the new iOS 7 redesign looks sleek and modern. To blend well with the rest of the iOS UX and ecosystem, Yahoo! Sports designers used a new flat look that also happens to go well with the rest of Yahoo!'s offerings.

The technology used in the new Loops feature was taken from IntoNow and it is currently one of the easiest methods to make GIFs using a smartphone. The Loops feature allows users to pick sections of a game and make GIF images out of them. Users can also add captions and other text comments to their moving GIF's. After the GIF is completed, the app also allows users to share it with friends.

The Loops feature can be used with a wide variety of sports and competitions including pro basketball, hockey, baseball and football. Aside from the pro leagues, users can also make GIFs for collegiate level sports like baseball and football. However, it's safe to say that more sporting events will probably be added in the near future.

While the update is fairly recent, Yahoo! reports that millions of users are already getting their hands dirty and a large amount of sports GIFs have already been created. To use the new feature, users will first have to select a sport from the apps interface. Once a sport has been selected, users can then pick specific games. Afterwards, it's simply a matter of selecting the right play or the right time and dropping the selection into the app's timeline. Additional features include slow motion effects and special filters to customize the resulting GIF. Add a caption and it's done. Users can now share their images across most social networks with ease. In addition to this, user-created GIFs will be available for viewing from the Loops stream within the app itself.
