"Clash of Clans" (COC)  update not working? You're not Alone! COC recently rolled out its December 2020 Update that brought the Christmas-themed gameplay, but players report that there are widespread crash and bug problems that plague the application. The game's developers are now looking for the problem and would schedule a maintenance break to roll out the bug fix to fix the issues.

The famous Finnish mobile strategy video game, "Clash of Clans," is experiencing one of its nastiest bug problems, leading to the application often crashing according to its users. The crash came after its expected December update that brings massive rewards and bonuses, in-time for the most festive holiday of the year.

Finnish game developer, Supercell already acknowledged the problem and promised that it is on the move to find the issue that causes widespread crashing. The game's issues immediately begin upon its start-up page, not allowing players to log-in to their Town Halls.

According to the "Clash of Clans" Twitter account (@ClashofClans), they already recognized the problem and have scheduled a maintenance break to rollout the bug fix and update.

The developers have already started and finished the maintenance break, saying no more crashing problems with the latest fix.

'Clash of Clans' Crash Issues: Here's How to Temporarily Fix Problems When Occurring

The developers may have issued a maintenance break and fix to the game, but it may not be specific for everyone as there are still factors that vary. The majority of "Clash of Clans" players may have their game fixed, but there would be isolated cases of crashing and app malfunction. Having said so, here are the ways to address the common issues and problems.

According to Twitter user "shaggy bark" (@sakib87548), disconnecting Facebook is the easiest fix to prevent the app from crashing before it even starts. In the start menu, go to the app's Settings and disconnect Facebook. However, this may not be the case as the game automatically logs-in.

  • For Android: Clear App Data in the phone's Settings to trigger a new log-in.
  • For iOS: Delete the App and Re-download. Launch the "Clash of Clans" and log-in using your account (not Facebook).

The "Remove Facebook" fix may not be ideal for people who use their FB account as their primary log-in data. Gotta Be Mobile has several fixes other than the "removing Facebook linked account" method.

Supercell ID Malfunction

Supercell ID-linked "Clash of Clans" account may trigger the game to crash and malfunction while launching from the start menu. To fix this, close all the applications that are running on your phone. Clear RAM on your phone and restart the game.

"Download Content"

"Clash of Clans" Download Content Bug is also recurring to players worldwide. This bug prompts players that the application is downloading content, but in reality, nothing is happening. Players need to close the app, turn off the internet connection (LTE/4G/5G/WiFi), and restart the phone. Upon restart, connect to a different type of internet connection (LTE/4G/5G/WiFi) before starting the game.
