Last week, Apple Maps silently rolled out new biking directions in Chicago, Detroit, and five more US cities.

As 9to5Mac spots via Justine O'Beirne, Apple decides to add an update for users who want to have a respective biking direction in some US cities. Through the Apple Maps, you can now use the feature if you will go to Charleston, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Detroit, and Indianapolis.

Of course, bikers only want the best lanes when they traverse a pathway en route to their preferred destination. The iPhone maker thinks that this feature could help them know some information on the road including its elevation and the presence of obstacles.

Before becoming available to the abovementioned cities, the cycling directions first became usable in some US regions such as New York and California.

Aside from select US-based locations, it previously rolled out in global locations including Toronto and Vancouver (Canada), London (UK), and even mainland China.

"In the Maps app, you can get detailed cycling directions. Maps offers routes on bike paths, bike lanes, and bike-friendly roads (when available). You can preview the elevation for your ride, check how busy a road is, and choose a route that best avoids hills. As you travel along your route, Maps speaks cycling-specific directions for turns and maneuvers," the app description reads.

As for the next ideal locations that will receive the feature, O'Beirne predicts that Apple Maps will bring it up to the Gulf Coast and Texas. As of press time, 26% of the lands in the United States already have cycling directions thanks to Apple Maps.
