Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" from the early 1990s is a cult-classic hit for many. It is because of the almost accurate portrayal of dinosaurs in the film inspiring aspiring archaeologists and paleontologists. However, the film is not the only embodiment of real-life dinosaurs, as the fossil hanging from the Park's museum also got from a real fossil.

This fossil was recently sold at a private auction and went out for as much as $12.4 million.

Christie's Auction and Private Sale offered the remains of one of the most significant dinosaurs in history, and it is the monstrous Tyrannosaurus rex fossil. The T-rex dubbed "Hector" sold for a whopping $12.4 million last week, and it focused on the creature's remains and its almost complete bones to sell to its highest bidder.

The dinosaur fossil sold for twice as much as its original bidding price, and many interested buyers put their bid on the remains of the raptor's legacy, especially as it holds a significant name close to it, with "Jurassic Park."

The winner of Hector's fossil remains undisclosed, and it is a massive sale for the auction house that has already gone to its new owner.

Goodbye, Hector, the T-Rex Fossil Movie Inspo

According to Hyperallergic, Hector is the real-life inspiration for the movie prop from "Jurassic Park" back in 1993, the one hanging from the ceiling and standing on its feet. The most iconic thing here is that it is one of the two most complete "Deinonychus" skeletons found by researchers.

The name "Deinonychus" comes from Paleontologist John Ostrom, meaning "terrible claw" for its iconic size.

'Jurassic Park' and its Significance

There would be no "Jurassic Park" without the dinosaur bones and archaeologists that went on their way to discover the massive reptiles that roamed the Earth billions of years ago. The gigantic predators went on their way to walk the planet, but a famous theory forced these animals to go extinct as allegedly, they died from meteors that fell down the surface.

Fast forward to the modern era, filmmakers like Steven Spielberg and Colin Trevorrow decided to make films like "Jurassic Park" and its trilogy alongside the "Jurassic World" trilogy available for everyone. It might not be an accurate take on the dinosaurs that walked the planet before, but it reimagines these creatures in the modern world if they are loose now.

All of what the "Jurassic" saga offers now is a work of fiction and the imagination of filmmakers and scriptwriters for the audience to see. However, not all of it is from a fictional standpoint, as Hector and the other dinosaur fossils helped provide context as to how these fossils are, and what they are in their past life.
