Google is adding a brand new feature to its Meet app that allows users to live-stream meetings on YouTube. This means users can finally share their live streaming meetings on YouTube instead of having to record the meetings and then reupload them or record them separately.

New Live Stream Feature Allows Users to Share Feed from Google Meet to YouTube

According to the story by Gadgets Now, an admin will be able to navigate to the Activities panel of the app in order to enable it. Users will then be able to select the "Live Streaming" option to share their live stream.

As per Android Central, users will be able to select their channel in order to start streaming the meeting that they are having. The company also explained that the use of live streaming is very useful, especially if someone wants to share their presentation with a larger audience.

Users Will have to Go Through an Approval Process to Live Stream

The information can be shared with a larger audience even outside of the organization with the help of the live stream feature, which allows users to pause and replay whenever needed. Users can also view the presentation later on after the live stream.

Users will have to go through a channel approval process in order to live stream on YouTube. The company reportedly warns users in order to let them know that the channel has to be approved to enable live stream before they are able to live stream via Google Meet.

Privacy Option Added to Users that Want to Live Stream

The company's help page also explains that when host management is enabled, the host, as well as the co-host, can help start the meeting. Google will also help by providing a privacy option should someone want to start a live streaming meeting.

As per the report, a new feature like the ability to live stream a meeting looks like another way that the company is looking to diversify and even separate Meet compared to some other platforms.

Feature Rollout Schedule

The new feature is also expected to roll out in stages. The very first "rapid release" with the feature will be expected to roll out to select domains within three days from July 21 up until July 24.

The second rapid release is expected to roll out gradually, and could take up to 15 days and will start on July 25. The Google blog notes that it could take all the way up to 24 hours in order to get approval for their live streaming.

Google also has a dedicated support page to walk users through the steps they need to take in order to start live streaming on YouTube. A YouTube video was also uploaded to help give users the step-by-step process of how to live stream on the platform.
