Google is working on a Chromoting app for iOS users, according to a message posted on Chromium.org. Chromoting has been long available as a Chrome extension. It's an app that allows the user to remotely control their computers from any supported device. However, this will change when a Chromoting app will be made available for download via the iTunes and Google Play Store because, with this app, users will be able to perform similar tasks without using the Chrome extension.

The mobile clients would be an extension of earlier Google efforts with its Chrome Remote Desktop screen sharing client, which exited the beta phase back in 2012. If everything falls in place, users will soon be able to share their computers over the web with others in a secure manner. It can also be used for such things as remote tech support, or just to access your own computer to find applications and other important files.

At the moment, there are other apps similar to Chromoting, such as LogMeIn and Teamviewer. While these apps are feature rich and designed for professionals, many users might option to give Chromoting a shot since it is free for use and connects with your Goolge account.

There's no word on when users should expect to download Chromoting on their iOS device since the app in its current form is unpolished and needs further tweaks before it can be released to the public.

The latest move proves that Google views Chrome as something more than just a web browser. It could be a platform to introduce computer and smartphone users to Google services, which is evident from the search engine giant's push to make Chrome a central part of the Windows 8 Metro experience.

We're not certain of the features it will bring; however, one thing is for certain, it doesn't need to have a lot to turn out into something worth talking about for years to come.
