Comcast's G4 TV is shutting down, and despite the platform still being accessible and available to the public, it will soon cease to exist on the internet for people to use and watch for their entertainment needs. Deadline first broke the news to the public after releasing the internal memo before its employees received it on their end.

The company aimed to return with its G4 platform which capitalized on gaming and pro gamers to showcase its channel to the world.

The G4 channel first started in 2002 via linear cable and was canceled in 2012 under the company's decision as it was not profitable as well.

Comcast Did Not Achieve its Goals with G4

Deadline's report shared words from Comcast Spectacor CEO Dave Scott, who relayed the bitter news to the company and everyone under G4, regarding its failure to achieve what they want. The company's goals were not met with G4's return last year, particularly with a low viewership count, as well as its failure to achieve the financial results it first predicted.

Gaming Channels and their Operations

There are only a few gaming channels and platforms available in the world as it is a tough market to penetrate in the current tech industry which people have. It is because there are only a few trusted platforms where users head, and this is where their favorite individuals or groups are streaming their famous showcases online.

There are two top gaming channels in the world, and these are Twitch TV and YouTube Gaming who have been in the industry for a long time now.

Twitch was previously acquired by Amazon and is a known platform for gaming and lifestyle streams available to the public with streamers like Ninja, Shroud, Tfue, and more.

On the other hand, the Google-acquired streaming platform, YouTube, holds some of the known gamers and influencers in the world including DrDisResect, PewDiePie, VanossGaming, and more.

There are many competitors in the league, and many platforms to overtake as Facebook Gaming is also a massive channel available via social media. It gave Comcast's G4 channel a massive obstacle to overcome, something which the company is already struggling to beat with its current offers to the world, especially with its content and offers.
