Earlier this month, Virgin confirmed that its customers would be granted a free speed boost for their internet connection. According to Express, this is apparently happening this weekend, and it's a big upgrade that every user should not miss.

The telecommunications firm said that M100 plan subscribers would receive an increase of 24Mbps from the usual 108Mbps. Meanwhile, customers with the M200 plan will get a whopping upgrade of 264Mbps from 213Mbps.

If you have doubts about the upgrade and might think that it's just a scam, you can always peruse everything you have in your email. You can look for Virgin's announcement from it.

"You'll be moving from M200 to M250 Fibre Broadband, which serves up 25% faster average speeds - with average download speeds going up to 264Mbps from 213Mbps and average upload speeds to 25Mbps from 20Mbps. "That's perfect for streaming guilty pleasures, gaming with the gang, posting that #fire selfie, or downloading the latest blockbuster (which you could do in just over 7.5 minutes)," the email reads.

The email also says that you can achieve this upgrade by rebooting your router. It should be noted that you should reset your WiFi hub so the changes can take effect.

How to Reboot Your Router

Express also writes the two-step trick you need to do to reboot your WiFi hub in the same article.

First, make sure to turn off the router at the wall socket. Do not forget this tip: wait for 10 seconds before switching it on again.

Then, wait another five to 10 minutes for the router to reset. As soon as you see the white power light, that's the time that your router is now ready for use. Make sure that it has no flashing or blinking pattern.

After that, you can now enjoy your speed boost for free. If you want to test your broadband speed, you can go to Ookla to see how fast are its upload and download speeds.

According to Virgin Media O2's Chief Operating Officer Jeff Dodds, the company wants to reach out to more UK-based customers following the upgrade. With the recent rollout of enhancement, the firm is now ready to take a huge leap to the next step.

In another report by Computer Weekly, Virgin Media CEO said that the company is pushing for a stronger quarter after their Q3 performance posed significant growth following the Ebitda merger.

In line with this, the company wants to target 50% of the users in the UK by next year as part of its O2 5G service expansion. Virgin hopes that the final quarter of 2022 will be much better than the recent one.
