Two Electric SUVs

During Nio's annual event-themed "feel the light," a series of new products were introduced. The EV maker released two flagship electric SUVs. The first one is the Nio EC7, which is a mid-large size coupe SUV that comes with intelligent air suspension on the NT 2.0 tech platform.

In addition, it is equipped with a 300kW induction motor with a 180kW permanent magnet motor. So far, it is the fastest Nio SUV, with 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds. With this, it becomes a worthy contender to the Audi e-tron.

The EC7 has a drag coefficient as low as 0.230cd, which is why it is the most aerodynamic EV worldwide. It also has an adjustable rear wing, which is a first from Nio.

The interior is impressive as well, with a panoramic sunroof with five levels of adjustable lighting.

On the other hand, the Nio ES8, is a six-seat smart EV SUV with two electric motors with a maximum output of 480 kW and a 0 to 100 km/h of 41 seconds.

Both flagship SUVs are now on sale with EC7 deliveries expected to start in May 2023, while ES* deliveries will be in June 2023 in China.

Both SUVs come with ADB intelligent multi-beam headlights that can project patterns or animations, reduce glare, and emit alerting beams with Lidar and cameras.

Another important thing that should be noted is that these SUVs feature fully autonomous battery swaps where the EV can plant the route, drive to the power swap station and complete the exchange before hopping back on the road automatically. This new feature will roll out in the first half of 2023.

All-in-all, the Nio ES8 and EC7 is a formidable rival for the Audi e-tron as far as the design and specs of the electric SUVs is concerned. Both automakers are competing to become the leader in EVs.
