As we do every year, many of us will begin 2023 by making New Year's resolutions to become stronger, fitter, and healthier. Keeping the pledges we make to ourselves is unquestionably challenging, and we need all the aid we can get. Once again, Apple has some answers.

The Activity Share feature on the Apple Watch allows users to easily share their fitness progress and compete with peers to reach their activity goals. To use this feature, both the sender and the recipient must have an iPhone and an Apple Watch, as well as the most recent iOS software on both devices.

Start Sharing Your Fitness Journey

To begin the sharing process, the sender can open the Fitness app on their iPhone, press the Sharing tab, and then add their contacts by tapping the green plus button. They can open the Activity app on their Apple Watch, scroll down to "Invite a friend," and choose their preferred contact. The receiver will then be notified and invited to join the sender's sharing network. The sharing will commence after the invitation is accepted.

Users can view each other's daily Activity rings, which track the amount of exercise they have accomplished that day, via Activity Share. They can also be notified when a friend completes an exercise and review workout metrics such as calories burnt, miles walked, and duration. 

This feature keeps individuals motivated and accountable throughout their fitness journey, and it can build a sense of community and friendly competition.

Challenge Friends

ZDNet tells us that users can utilize the Activity Share feature to challenge each other to a 7-day competition in addition to sharing daily activity numbers. The sender can do this by opening the Fitness app on their iPhone, going to the Sharing page, and selecting the "Challenge" option.

They can then select the receiver and duration of the challenge before sending the invitation. The challenge is subsequently accepted by the recipient, and the competition begins.

Both users can track their progress and observe where they stand with respect to one another during the challenge. This might add an added layer of motivation and encouragement to help them achieve their activity objectives.

While the Activity Share function can help you stay motivated and on track with your fitness objectives, keep in mind that it is only one component of a healthy lifestyle. In addition to regular exercise, additional elements such as nutrition, sleep, and stress management must be considered.
