The giant iPhone maker said that more and more people prefer to use audiobooks over the traditional way of reading.

You can't blame them since audiobooks allow them to multitask. However, only a fraction of books are converted to audio.

Apple said that this leaves millions of books unheard. This is why the tech giant manufacturer decided to release its AI-powered narrator.

This new AI-powered can benefit book writers who can't afford to convert their titles to audiobooks.

"Apple Books digital narration makes the creation of audiobooks more accessible to all," said the gadget maker via its official website

The tech firm added that its new AI-powered book narrator enables independent authors to meet the growing demand by making their books heard.

What to Know About the AI-Powered Narrator

Apple said that it can produce high-quality audiobooks because it brings together advanced speech synthesis tech.

The digital voices of the new AI-powered digital narrator are optimized for specific book genres.

Here are the digital voices available:

  • Mitchell (non-fiction/self-development baritone)
  • Helena (non-fiction/self-development baritone)
  • Madison (Fiction/Romance soprano)
  • Jackson (Fiction/Romance baritone)

Apple said that the digital voices above will still expand to cover more genres and allow authors more options.

If you want your book to be converted to audio, the gadget maker requires you to sign up with one of its preferred partners; Ingram CoreSource or Draft2Digital.

After that, here are other guidelines you need to follow:

  • You must own the rights to produce the audiobook.
  • Ebooks must be available on Apple Books.
  • The book must be in English.
  • The primary category must be romance or fiction.
