The company also provides Sex Offender Notification and Registration System (SONAR) that is used by state and local law enforcement to manage registered sex offenders remotely.

SweepWizard Hack

The SweepWizard app lets police manage and coordinate multi-agency raids. Recently, the app had a significant security vulnerability, which exposed the personal information of police suspects and sensitive details of upcoming operations to the open web.

This is not the first time the company has been involved in controversy. In 2022, ODIN Intelligence was found to be marketing its facial recognition technology that enables users o identify homeless people.

A Message Left By Hackers

However, it is unclear who defaced the company's website or how the intruders broke in. A message was left behind that quoted the company's founder Eric McCauley.

The message left on the company's website reads, "And so, we deduced to hack them."

The message also claims that "add data and backups have been shredded," which suggests that it was an attempt to delete the company's data. However, the defacement note consisted of three large archive files that amount to 16 gigabytes of data.

In addition, the defacement included a set of Amazon Web Services keys that apparently belong to ODIN.

Hackers on the Rise

It is reported that the wave of cyber attacks has recently increased. In recent years, cybercriminals have breached popular tech companies like Tesla, Facebook, Google, and Apple.

If not caught early and taken care of, cyber attacks can cause extensive cyber damage to a company. They can bring down business operations leading to financial losses. Cyber attacks can also result in customer trust being broken.

Thus, companies must work toward strengthening their network security and designing secure systems to protect the organization from the growing threat of cyber attacks. The more secure the network is, the less likely it is to be breached. Therefore, companies must assess their network security and design security systems to protect their organization.

Companies must also work with the best security technology providers to design, build and implement an effective IT risk management system. An effective IT risk management system can minimize the risk of cyber-attacks and enhance the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of a company's data, information, and systems.

Hackers, cybercriminals, and mercenaries are growing in numbers. The recent case of the defacement of ODIN Intelligence's website by unknown hackers is the latest incident in a series of attacks on companies by cybercriminals. Companies must work toward building strong network security by implementing an effective IT risk management system.
