"Pokemon Scarlet and Violet" has heavily nerfed the stallers in the game, especially in competitive battles.

By reducing the PP (power moves) of self-healing moves such as Morning Sun, Roost, Softboiled, Moonlight, Rest, and Slack Off, wall Pokemon might depend more on Leftovers or berries to sustain their HP (hit points).

Despite this nerf gun, some gamers still test the waters by running the stallers in singles or doubles. There are some options you can use to make your online matches more fun and enjoyable through these stall users.

Here are the best stallers you need to use on ranked battles in "Pokemon Scarlet & Violet."

With the downfall of stallers, the metagame has changed into a hyper-offensive pace. While some Pokemon are still usable as stall opportunists, GameFreak has limited their full potential.

Because of this, more players are running a bulky lineup of Pokemon that can easily defeat stallers. Since heal-spam loses its effectiveness in today's meta, a few adjustments must be made.

Even though the current competitive ecosystem thrives differently than before, stallers are still viable in the right team. They can obliterate a squishy lineup with a few tricks on their sleeves.

Gargancl

One of the newest Rock-type Pokemon in Paldea is Gargancl which excels in stalling its opponent. As expected in its type, it's extremely bulky in Physical Defense, which makes it a perfect wall against Physical Attackers.

Its Salt Cure is a menace to overcome for the teams since the opponent takes over-time damage with it if the enemy is either a Water or Steel type. Its effect doubles.

Gargancl remains a staple in every team, and it's the best Rock-type Pokemon in "Scarlet and Violet" at the moment.

Tropius

Only a few players are using Tropius because of its limited offensive sets. However, it shines most on its defensive stance. It remains a perfect staller in competitions because of its Leech Seed that sucks the HP of the opponent every turn.

Paired with Protect and Wide Guard, your opponent has a very small chance of living especially if it only relies on AOE (area of effect) damage.

Toxapex

Another remarkable Pokemon on the list is Toxapex. With its Water and Poison typing - it can surely soak great damage from Physical Attackers with its stats.

It punishes those heavy attackers who have no clue about its moves. Just like Gargancl, it can inflict little damage through Infestation and Toxic. You should take note of its Baneful Bunker when facing this Pokemon.

Clodsire

The list won't be complete without the new Paldean form of Quagsire. Clodsire is one of the most picked Pokemon in doubles at the moment, thanks to its high Defense stat. It fits in almost all Trick Room teams out there.

It has three amazing abilities, but the one that stands out the most is Unaware (Hidden Ability). This ignores all the stat changes in a Pokemon, so a setup Pokemon such as Garchomp (Swords Dance) or Volcarona (Quiver Dance) won't be effective against this staller.
