Sony PlayStation Network (PSN) is down for many PS5 and PS4 gamers, preventing them from accessing their gaming titles.

The outage comes amid the massive launch of "Hogwarts Legacy" early access.

PlayStation Network Down Affecting Many PS5 and PS4 Players

As per a recent report by ComicBook.com, PS5 and PS4 owners started reporting potential outages of the PSN at around 4:30 pm Eastern Time (ET). The reports from PlayStation gaming console users continued to flood in the next few hours. So it seems that the problem in the network persisted.

Some of the reports from users noted that they were slapped with an error message when they were attempting to play a game, saying that they "can't use this content."

The message further says that they cannot "connect to the server to verify" their licenses. And instead, the notice asked PS4 and PS5 gamers to "wait a while then try again."

However, even when players tried to access the game again after a while, they were welcomed with the same error message. It prevented affected folks from playing the games they wanted to access on their gaming console.

Push Square notes in its report that this made it impossible for some users to boot PS4 and PS5 games. Meanwhile, others were booted out from the gaming titles that they were playing.

Restore License Troubleshoot Not Working?

ComicBook.com notes that this "license verification" error occurs on the PlayStation Network from time to time. And as such, some users have already learned an easy way out to fix it.

PS5 and PS4 gamers get away with it by simply restoring the licenses via the menu of the gaming console.

But this time, the typical troubleshooting remedy failed to work as it should, suggesting an actual outage on PSN.

The Japanese gaming firm went on to acknowledge the issue affecting PlayStation gamers. Sony admits that some users "might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features."

The giant console maker disclosed in its statement that it is "working to resolve the issue as soon as possible." So in due time, the widespread outage should be gone for good. It should then allow users to access their console games without any issues.

It is worth noting that it is not the first instance that the PlayStation Network faced some issues. In the past, outages also prevented PS4 and PS5 gamers from playing their games.
