DJI has just released its new Mini 2 SE drone with several upgrades from the company's current entry-level drone.  The new product is installed with the OcuSync 2.0 transmission system, making it faster than the original Mini SE.

But besides the upgrades, the new drone has a tiny downgrade too. The Mini 2 SE is not equipped with the capability to capture up to 4k video, which makes it significantly cheaper than the previous model.

MIAMI, FLORIDA - DECEMBER 15: In this photo illustration, a DJI Mavic 2 Pro and DJi Mavic Mini made by the Chinese drone maker fly near each other on December 15, 2021 in Miami, Florida. Reports indicate that the world’s leading drone maker, DJI, is among eight Chinese companies expected to be placed on a U.S. government blacklist that prohibits businesses operating in the United States from exporting technology to companies.

Video Transmission Capabilities

All of the sophisticated DJI capabilities, such as QuickShots and Panorama, are still available in the new drone.

The DJI Mini 2 SE also has a digital zoom capability that permits up to 4X digital zoom, but it is less potent because the Mini 2 SE cannot record video in high resolution especially without the 4k feature, according to PetaPixel.

But DJI said that the new drone supports up to 10 km of high-definition video transmission equipped with "excellent" anti-interference capabilities that would enable it to fly farther and see clearer.

The drone's maximum transmission range of 10 km is similar to the Mini 2 thanks to DJI O2 transmission tech. Its flight time is still the same as well at 31 minutes.

Its 3-axis mechanical stabilization system also ensures that the Mini 2 SE provides smooth imagery no matter where it ventures to. It also features a 1/2.3-inch CMOS camera that produces 12MP photos and up to 2.7K videos.

The Mini 2 SE can hover steadily and take stable photographs at winds up to 10.7 meters per second due to its "Level 5 wind resistance," according to the company.

Fits in the Palm

"At less than 249 g, it weighs about as much as an apple and fits in the palm of your hand. Compact and convenient, Mini 2 SE is your ideal travel companion, transforming how you capture your favorite moments," DJI said on the product's website.

"Its affordable price point make Mini 2 SE a perfect drone for beginners and experienced drone pilots alike."

Additionally, the drone is equipped with Smart RTH, Low Battery RTH, and Failsafe RTH so that it can safely return to the owner's location.

Beginning on March 22, the DJI Mini 2 SE will be offered in two variations. The DJI Mini 2 SE alone costs $369, which is less expensive than the Mini 2 at $449.

Meanwhile, DJI Mini 2 SE Fly More combo will include several accessories, three batteries, a bag, cables, rotor blades, and many more. Its retail price will be around $519.
