In a world where there is a competition between the capabilities of a person versus that of the artificial minds and programs it created, a human takes home the win and bragging rights in a Go match against AI. This was the first time that a person won against a computer program powered by AI to give humans a virtual competitor in the game.

One of the triumphs in this modern world is to beat machines who excel in their respective fields, especially with their main purpose being to thrive and be the best in the business.

Human Beats AI in Go Match After Years of AI Supremacy

Ars Technica reported that Kellin Pelrine managed to hand an AI computer program a series of losses in a Go match, and this came after years that the machine reigned supreme in competitions, even beating that of world champions.

Pelrine is an American player who is one rank below the top amateur rankings and studied how to beat the machine, before going head-to-head without any assistance from computers or peers.

There was a known vulnerability among AI-powered Go computers which was made known recently, but it was not yet used before to best the program.

The human player used this knowledge to beat the AI machine in 14 out of 15 games in their match, proving that the vulnerability is the flaw that led to its demise.

Humans Exploited a Vulnerability in the System

The exploit which humans studied was carried out by a startup company called "FAR AI" led by Adam Gleeve.

Its system played a million games with the famous Go-playing machine, KataGo, to determine its weakness which humans may use in defeating the previous best player, which was the AI.

Upon learning of its weakness, it devised a plan to beat the AI and regain the title back to human intelligence, which Pelrine used to his advantage.

Humans vs. AI In Many Industries

Many researchers, programmers, and developers create the smartest and most capable machines on the planet, for use and application in different industries present in the world. However, there is a massive concern regarding this, especially as robots can effectively replace humans in their jobs, as they can automatically and accurately do the same jobs with fewer costs.

Many researchers claim that AI's goal is not to replace humans with their jobs, but more to help them in making their everyday tasks easier and more manageable, so that they may focus on other responsibilities.

The many AI machines or programs created in the present are getting more and more advanced, with one already displaying its capabilities to think on its own

AI vs. Humans is one of the main focuses of this generation, as human intelligence aims to challenge the superiority of AI, which only needs to study loads of information from the internet to perform its deep-learning feats.

Still, there are specific flaws and vulnerabilities AI machines display, and this may very well be exploited by those who can think outside the box and give them a run for their money.
