Rumors circling Tesla's plans to launch a redesigned Model 3 first came out in November 2022.

At that time, several sources said that the American automaker will be making huge moves in the second half of 2023.

According to a recent report by Electrek, the company might be preparing to release a Tesla Model 3 prototype with a new set of wheels under the "Highland" project.

Tesla Model 3 Prototype Spotted

The leading EV manufacturer previously hinted that its "large casting technology" can be fused with other smaller parts to come up with a new Model Y unit.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has mentioned before that the technology that will be coming to Model Y will "greatly improve the manufacturing efficiency" of the current EVs.

While Musk shared his plans to drop the feature to Model 3, he did not clarify the exact launch of this technology.

Since 2020, the company saw several issues from the get-go including slowing production and shifting customer preferences. Such an update for the Model 3 won't be happening anytime since Tesla could not still afford it.

The only thing we know so far is the excellent production of Model Y units. It could mean that Tesla might want to improve the other models like in the case of Model 3.

The recent report could give a clue that the revamped Tesla Model 3 might be just idle in the corner. It should be noted that back in December 2022, the prototype was reportedly under testing in California.

This February 2023, another source spotted the same car model with a noticeable set of new wheels. Although Electrek reported that it's for Model 3, we could not give away any information about its front and back since they are covered.

Is Project Highland For Tesla Model 3?

The prototype which is reportedly under the "Highland" project, appears to be boasting a never-before-seen feature from any Tesla cars before.

The newly-spotted Model 3 is flexing its 18-inch aero wheels that have no aero cap. It seems that Tesla has altered its design which is far away from its current look.

At the moment, Tesla remains tight-lipped about its plans to release the redesigned Model 3 in the market.

Anytime soon, we assume that the company will announce further information about this promising venture during the Investor Day next week. This is also the time when Tesla will share more details about its product roadmap in front of investors.
