Volkswagen is now offering a five-year free service for car tracking service for its owners, one that would particularly work to retrieve carnapped cars and stealing incidents. This is after the recent issue that it had with the Sheriff's department in Libertyville, Illinois after the Car-Net service denied the police tracking to a victim's 2021 Volkswagen Atlas after it was reported stolen.

The operator's actions caused a 30-minute delay in finding the stolen Volkswagen which was stolen despite having a two-year-old kid inside, the child of the battered pregnant victim.

Lake McHenry Country Scanner reported that Volkswagen is now offering as much as 5-year access to its Car-Net tracking service present on VW vehicles, starting from the year 2020 and older. This is after the recent incident over at West Buckley Road in Libertyville, where pregnant woman Taylor Shepard was beaten by the assailants who also stole her car.

The German car company sympathizes with the victims of the incident and is gravely dismayed by what happened, especially as the family and police are already trying to find the stolen Atlas.

Since Shepard's free trial to the Car-Net software already expired, the police and detectives were required to pay $150 via a credit card to re-activate the service and track the vehicle.

Fortunately, the boy was retrieved unharmed but was left in a parking area without the vehicle. Moments later, the police located the stolen VW Atlas, already abandoned.

Shepard Family's Horrific Incident in February

Shepard experienced one of the most horrific incidents against herself, especially when the criminals who stole her car beat her up, took her car, and also took her 2-year-old son, Isaiah. Not only that, but these criminals also ran her over with her car as she was lying on the ground after receiving a beating.

Now, neighbors and concerned citizens have setup a GoFundMe for the Shepard family to help Taylor with her recovery and physical therapy after the assault.

Moreover, her unborn child remains healthy and under constant care to ensure its safety.

Volkswagen Cars

The famous German car company, Volkswagen, has been pushing for its brand about clean energy with the renowned ID series that are widely available in the market. The company also aims to add more to its clean energy fleet, particularly with the upgraded ID.3 electric vehicle that is coming soon to the public, along with its latest features.

The company is also centering on a new autonomous vehicle from the company under the GEN.TRAVEL Prototype which it unveiled earlier, focusing on a level 5 self-driving car.

Apart from that, Volkswagen also has several internal combustion engine releases in the present for its previous lineup, together with all the features, as well as the upgraded Car-Net.

For now, Volkswagen has to re-evaluate the safety features for when a car gets carnapped, as it is centered on a subscription feature that not all availed when they bought the car. Taylor Shepard experienced a tragic situation on her end and is still recuperating from it, physically and emotionally, while carrying their family's next baby.

Volkswagen may have no hands in the physical assault she took from the carnapping, but the safety of her 2-year-old son was jeopardized because of Car-Net, now offering extra time to all users for tracking and security.
