Netflix Gaming is reportedly expanding to TVs soon. As part of its arrival to larger screens, the streamer is now testing a feature that lets Apple iPhone users turn their mobile devices into controllers.

It looks like the streaming service that brought us "Stranger Things" and "Squid Game" is now pretty serious with its rodeo to the gaming market.

HOUSTON, TEXAS - APRIL 19: In this photo illustration, the Netflix app is shown on a mobile phone on April 19, 2022 in Houston, Texas. The company Netflix is expected to report its first-quarter earnings after the close of trading later today. The report will be for the fiscal Quarter ending March 2022.

Netflix Gaming TV Expansion

Netflix dipped its toes into mobile gaming last 2021, according to a report by The Verge. The giant streamer started bringing games to iPhone and Android users. And so far, it has released roughly more than 50 gaming titles.

That's not all. Netflix is reportedly planning to serve us 40 more games before 2023 ends. So there is quite a lot in store for gamers out there.

However, it is worth noting that while Netflix streams movies and shows on laptops and TVs, its game offerings miss out on these platforms. Instead, its gaming titles are only playable on mobile phones. But it seems that it is about to change.

ISTANBUL, TURKEY - MARCH 23: The Netflix App logo is seen on a television screen on March 23, 2018 in Istanbul, Turkey.

The Verge says that Netflix previously said that they want its games to be "playable" on any device that its users have. This means that its gaming service is inevitably coming to TVs and tablets shortly.

And this time, it looks like Netflix is now gearing up to expand its gaming service to the bigger screen, specifically TVs. The code of its iOS app for iPhone users gives us a glimpse of what the giant streamer is working on these days.

Netflix Might Soon Turn iPhones into Gaming Controllers for TVs

Bloomberg reports that a code beneath the Netflix iOS app hints that iPhones might soon control the games on your TV. Essentially, it could transform into a handy gaming controller.

The code clearly suggests that a new feature is in the works. It should give mobile users an option to use their phones to control their gameplay on TV games.

The code, according to the tweet by Mac Rumors writer Steve Moser, asks users if they want to turn their phone into a video game controller.

It tells users that "a game on your TV needs a controller to play." It further asks them if they "want to use this phone as a game controller?"

Netflix has yet to confirm if it plans to roll out this new feature. Do take this with a grain of salt for now. Given that it only appears on the code of its app, it sure is still in the works.
