Western Digital has recently launched its new Xbox Series S and X expandable storage cards, which are considerably cheaper than the competition. The WD C50 1TB expansion card is priced at $40 less than Seagate's $219.99, which was previously the only other option for Xbox Series S and X users looking to expand their storage capacity.

The new WD C50 1TB expansion card was recently available over at Best Buy, but the retailer's post on the platform was taken down, probably by WD or Microsoft.

The cheaper WD C50 1TB expansion card is designed specifically for use with Xbox Series S and X consoles and provides additional storage space for games, apps, and other media.

The Verge claims it is exclusively for Xbox Series S and X consoles, and was recently posted over at Best Buy that is now delisted. It is best for those who are often looking for cost-effective ways to expand their console's storage capacity.

The WD C50 1TB expansion card provides a viable alternative to Seagate's expensive storage solution, which was previously the only option available to users as the exclusive external storage card available in the market.

Western Digital has been able to achieve a lower price point for its expansion card by using a different type of storage technology. Seagate's expansion card uses a proprietary NVMe SSD.

WD vs. Seagate vs. Samsung for Xbox

Another option is the Samsung 980 Pro 1TB PCIe Gen4 drive available in the market for $79.99, but this needs a specific installation in the Xbox Series consoles for installation.

The specific expansion card storage for Xbox Series S and X offers a plug-and-play device that allows users to port this behind the console and avoid taking the console apart to expand storage. For now, the best option is still Seagate's card, as users would have to wait for the official release of its WD counterpart.

Western Digital's Storage

WD presents one of the most affordable and ideal storage options in the market, as it is also one of the trusted brands among the gaming and computer community.

There was a previous issue on WD, particularly on their MyBook storage where user data was deleted on their drives despite having it connected to the internet. It was then revealed that hackers were behind this but found each other looking into the same drives, leading to its deletion

Western Digital's new Xbox Series S and X expandable storage cards are a welcome addition to the market, providing users with an affordable option to expand their console's storage capacity. With the increasing size of modern games, storage space is becoming a significant concern for gamers. By offering an affordable alternative to Seagate's expensive solution, Western Digital has made it easier for gamers to keep their favorite titles installed on their consoles.
