The Apple Watch is seeing a new app that decided to leave the device, and this is Meta's Facebook Messenger which recently handed its notice to users who have it installed on their iPhones and the wearable. Without any reason behind this pullout, Meta has been sending a notice to users regarding this, and users are taking the news to social media.

Apple Watch Losing Facebook Messenger App on the Wearable

As initially reported by Review Geek, the Facebook Messenger app is set to leave the Apple Watch by next month, but the company did not explain its departure from the wearable.

One screenshot from a user who was disappointed by this change shares what Meta has brought up to its users as a notice, but does not provide a reason behind it.

In the notice that says "Changes to Messenger on Apple Watch," the company said that "After May 31st, Messenger won't be available as an Apple Watch app, but you can still get Messenger notifications on your watch."

The report also mentioned that a Meta spokesperson confirmed this information, further citing that the mobile app, desktop app, and web would be the main ways to access Messenger on Apple devices, starting June 1.

Unknown Reason Yet for Messenger, Is it the watchOS 10?

There are no reasons yet behind this departure from the Apple Watch as an app, but the company said that users may still get notifications on their watch whenever they get a message on their iPhones.

It is also known that the upcoming watchOS 10 that is set to unveil this WWDC 2023 will bring the most significant updates for the Apple Watch that will center on a new UI, widgets, and may focus on Cupertino's apps, instead of the third-party ones.

Apple Watch and its Features for Owners

The Apple Watch is best known as the brainchild of the company's current CEO, Tim Cook, which he and the product team introduced to the world in 2015. It became one of the best-selling devices of the company which was a significant accessory for the smartwatch, delivering a connected experience at first, before it evolved to a device that stood out itself.

With the many developments added to the Apple Watch, among its most significant additions is its health features that aim to aid users in their journey to track their fitness and wellness.

However, many are already speculating that the upcoming watchOS 10 which is set to unveil this June on WWDC 2023 will see the "biggest update" to the Apple Watch experience.

UI will be the focus of the watchOS 10, alongside the device's new apps and widgets that will give a focus on the famed iPhone accessory. However, amidst these new changes for the device, many third-party apps are pulling out from the smartwatch, including Meta's Facebook Messenger.

Reasons remain unknown as there have been no concrete explanations yet, but a lot may be answered come to WWDC 2023.
